John Von Paris has held various leadership roles throughout their career. In 2006, they served as a Board Member and Co-Chair of the Transportation Initiative at Governor's Workforce Investment Board until 2008. From 2009 to 2010, they were the Chairman of the Board at Black and Gold Foundation. In 2012, they became President and CEO of Von Paris Moving and Storage. Later, from 2013 to 2015, they served as the Chairman of the Board at BBB Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland.

John Von Paris attended The John Carroll School from 1973 to 1977, where they studied History. Subsequently, from 1978 to 1981, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management at Towson University.
