Mikael Westerberg has extensive experience in transmission development and engineering, currently serving as Manager of Transmission Development and Chief Project Manager at Volvo Construction Equipment since October 2011. Prior to this role, Mikael was Chief Engineer and Global Innovation Manager at GM Powertrain Sweden from August 2005 to October 2011, overseeing R&D projects and technology strategy for gearboxes. Earlier positions include Chief Engineer for Fiat-GM Powertrain, where responsibility encompassed three gearbox families, and Assistant Chief Engineer for one gearbox family. Mikael's career began at Saab Automobile AB, where roles included Group Leader for manual transmissions and Project Leader for external gearbox customers. Mikael's foundational engineering education was completed with an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Luleå University of Technology, graduating in 1990.
