Kyle Wang has a diverse work experience primarily in the field of imaging science. Kyle started their career at DairyNZ as a Data Analyst in August 2012. In February 2013, they worked as a Visiting Research Scholar at Gunma University.
In 2014, Kyle joined Auckland Bioengineering Institute as a Software Developer in October, and simultaneously started working as a Tutor/Lab Demonstrator at The University of Waikato. At Waikato, they were involved in teaching various subjects including Computational Biophysics, Engineering Application, and Physics for Scientists and Engineers.
In September 2014, they transitioned to Volpara Health as an Imaging Scientist. During their time at Volpara, they worked on developing imaging solutions, including the development of a patient-specific image quality evaluation algorithm for the mammography's first real-time decision support system called VolapraLive!. Kyle progressed to the position of Senior Imaging Scientist, where they developed a deep learning based imaging engine for a mammography reporting and patient communication system named ProjectThumb. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Imaging Scientist at Volpara Health and is involved in the mammographic imaging modelling and quantification of breast tissue composition.
Kyle Wang has a strong educational background in data science and computational science. Kyle obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in Applied Statistics from Victoria University of Wellington in 2018. Prior to that, they completed a Doctorate of Philosophy in Computational Science from The University of Waikato between 2009 and 2014. In 2006, they earned their Master of Physics with a specialization in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Zhejiang Normal University. Their undergraduate studies were focused on Physics Teacher Education, resulting in a Bachelor of Science degree from Huzhou Teachers College in 2006. Kyle Wang has also acquired various certifications in areas related to data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, demonstrating their commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
