Michiel Van Peteghem serves as the Head of the Department of Air Quality & Human Resources Management at Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij - VMM since July 2014. With extensive experience in environmental policy, Michiel has been a full member of the Club of Rome Italy Peccei Foundation since 2006 and was a member of the management board for the European Environment Agency from July 2017 to July 2023, representing Belgium as appointed by the Flemish Government. Previously, Michiel acted as the Flemish government representative at De Watergroep until August 2020 and worked as an advisor for the Flemish Minister for the Environment, Nature and Culture from September 2009 to June 2014. Early career experience includes serving as the Head of Section for International Environmental Policy at the Flemish Environment Agency from December 1998 to August 2009. Educational qualifications include a Diplôme in Political Science and International Relations from Université catholique de Louvain, a Business Administration background from the University of Antwerp, and a Master's degree in Germanic Languages from the University of Antwerp.
