Ryan Schwartz has a diverse work experience spanning over a period of more than two decades. Ryan initially worked at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health as a Senior IPC from 1999 to 2006. In 2004, they became a Partner at TextDrive until 2006. From 2006 to 2015, they worked at VitalSource, initially as a Lead Systems Engineer and later as a UNIX Systems Administrator. In 2015, they joined Ingram Content Group as a Senior Systems Engineer and worked there until April 2020.

Ryan Schwartz attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1992 to 1997, where they completed their Bachelor of Music Performance degree with a focus on Music Performance, specifically in the field of Trumpet.
