Joe Cesarz (PharmD, MS) works with Visante’s clients in all areas of hospital and health system pharmacy. Joe’s extensive experience in strategy development and implementing programs for Specialty and Ambulatory Pharmacy, 340B and reimbursement programs helps clients to optimize the business of their pharmacy operations and deliver exceptional patient care.
Before joining Visante, Joe was the Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Health. He was also the Program Director for the PGY2 Healthy System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) Specialty Pharmacy Residency at UW Health. He oversaw UW Health’s specialty pharmacy services, 14 community pharmacies, in-clinic pharmacy services (primary care and specialty), the pharmacy fiscal and reimbursement program, ambulatory pharmacy informatics analysts, and all medication access and affordability services. In addition to budgeting and financial accountability, he was responsible for negotiating and executing payer, manufacturer, 340B, and technology contracts across the retail pharmacy enterprise. Joe also served as the Chair of the Ambulatory Pharmacy Development Committee within the Vizient University Health System Consortium Pharmacy Network during his final years at UW Health.
Joe received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Master of Science degree in health-system pharmacy administration from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also completed the residency training program in Health-System Pharmacy Administration at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
Joe is the Contributing Editor for Specialty Pharmacy for the American Journal of Health System Pharmacy (AJHP), and has been recognized for scholarship (2014 ASHP Research and Education Foundation Innovation in Pharmacy Practice Award) and advocacy (2017 Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin Good Governance Award).
