Jim Lund (PharmD, MS, BCSCP) brings deep expertise to Visante clients in all aspects of inpatient pharmacy, including operational performance of inpatient pharmacy operations, automation strategy, Centralized Service Center (CSC) design and buildout, and pharmacy supply chain. Jim helps hospitals and health systems greatly improve financial and operational performance for the entire organization.
Before joining Visante, Jim was the Director of Pharmacy Operations, Departmental Strategy & Innovation at Massachusetts General Hospital where he helped guide the pharmacy department’s strategic planning efforts and was responsible for the operations of the hospital’s central pharmacy distribution systems, sterile and non-sterile compounding areas and peri-operative pharmacy services.
Jim previously was the Manager of Inpatient Pharmacy Operations at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, as well as the UW Health System Medication Safety Officer. Prior to his time with the pharmacy leadership team at the University of Wisconsin, Jim was the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Jim’s practice interests include the use of automation and technology to enhance patient safety and efficiency of pharmacy operations, strategic planning, leadership development, facility planning, and pharmacy technician practice advancement.
Jim received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin and completed a PGY-1 and PGY-2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Jim also holds a Master of Science degree in Health System Pharmacy Administration from the University of Wisconsin. Jim is a Board-Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.
