David Dowall has extensive work experience in financial reporting, planning, and analysis. David is currently serving as the Head of Financial Reporting & Controls at VIRTUS Data Centres since October 2019. Prior to this, they worked as the Corporate Planning and Analysis Lead at EnQuest from August 2017 to October 2019, where they supported budget planning, cash flow forecasting, and process improvement initiatives. From January 2015 to February 2017, David served as the Director of Corporate Planning at Qatar Mining, where they maintained business plans, developed accounting policies, and provided ad hoc advice on implementing IFRS. David also has experience at PwC as a Senior Manager from April 2011 to March 2014, where they established the Accounting Advisory business in Qatar and delivered IFRS consulting services. Additionally, David worked at Elsevier as a Group Reporting Accountant and Group Financial Analyst from March 2008 to March 2010, responsible for financial analysis, consolidation, and reporting. David began their career at KPMG UK, where they held roles as an Audit Assistant and Assistant Manager from September 2004 to March 2008, working with clients in the financial services industry and managing audit teams.

David Dowall earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from the University of Oxford. David then went on to obtain a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mineral Economics and Project Appraisal from Imperial College London. Afterward, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Geochemistry at Durham University. Apart from their academic qualifications, David Dowall has an additional certification, ACA, from ICAEW, although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
