Steven Peterson is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in research, risk analysis, and asset allocation. Currently serving as the Director of Research at the Virginia Retirement System since January 2017, Peterson has held key leadership roles, including Managing Director for Risk and Asset Allocation at the University of Virginia Investment Management Company and Managing Director of Investments at the Virginia Retirement System. Additionally, Peterson contributed to academia as an Associate Professor of Economics and an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1989 to 2014. Peterson earned a PhD in Economics from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master of Arts in Economics from Bowling Green State University.
