Angel Sappa is an experienced professional in the fields of computer vision and public safety. Angel began their career in 2003 as a Senior Researcher at the Computer Vision Center, a non-profit institution devoted to research and development in computer vision. In 2016, they became a Full Professor at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Angel also serves as a Co-Founder and Advisor for Vintra Inc., a company working to leverage video to solve crimes, save lives, and secure assets.
Angel Sappa has a background in robotics and computer vision. From 1989 to 1995, they studied Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering at Universidad Nacional de La Pampa and obtained an Electromechanical Engineer degree. From 1995 to 1999 they attended Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and obtained a PhD in Industrial Engineering, specializing in Robotics and Computer Vision. From 1999 to 2001, they completed a Post-Doc at LAAS CNRS (Robotics and Artificial Intelligence team) in the same field.
