Professor Edita Sužiedėlienė has been the Pro-Rector for Research of Vilnius University (since 1 April 2020) and the Vice-Rector of Vilnius University (since 6 April 2020).
The Pro-Rector for Research takes care of fostering Vilnius University as an age-old international science center, as defined in the Statute. Prof. E. Sužiedelienė is responsible for the strengthening of the University as a research institution, the development of international research, the harmonious implementation of doctoral studies, research, and experimental (social, cultural) development. The Vice-Rector also takes care of the activities of Vilnius University Library and Publishing House.
Prof. E. Sužiedėlienė graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in Biochemistry (1986). She continued his scientific career at Vilnius University, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, wherein she has obtained his doctoral degree (1995). Prof. E. Sužiedėlienė – former Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Vilnius University (2012–2020), Member of the Natural and Technical Sciences Committee of the Lithuanian Science Council (2013–2020), Chairwoman of the Academic Ethics Commission of the Lithuanian Science Council (2013–2020).
