James A. Phelan has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. James A. is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Evangelist at Village Insights since March 2020. In addition, they are the Co-Founder of Univrso, a role they started in January 2022, where they are also involved in commercial responsibilities. James is also the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Budapop Bottling Co. since February 2020, where they are involved in developing and promoting all-natural, nano-infused Hemp soft drinks.

In the past, James was the Managing Director at Founder Institute Texas from January 2019. James A. has also worked as an Advisor at Techstars starting from June 2020. Furthermore, James served as a Board of Directors Treasurer at Fresh Arts from June 2018. Additionally, they were a Co-Founder at Next Store from 2019 and a Partnership Director at Startup Grind from September 2014.

Finally, James was a Board of Advisors Member at UP Art Studio from January 2015 to October 2020 and worked in the Innovation role at American Title from November 2018 to July 2020.

James A. Phelan began their education in 1980 at St. John's School, where they studied but did not receive a degree. James A. attended Mirabeau B. Lamar H.S. from 1990 to 1992, but did not pursue a specific degree or field of study at this time. From 1992 to 1998, James studied at the University of Southern California, completing a BA and BS in Architecture, Urban & Regional Planning. In 2004, they enrolled at the University of St. Thomas (TX), where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts - BA between 2004 and 2006, focusing on Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services. James furthered their education at Stanford University from 2008 to 2010, achieving a Venture Lab degree in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies.
