Matthijs Beekman has a diverse work experience. Matthijs started as a Software Engineer at VIKTOR in 2017. Prior to that, they worked as a Teaching Assistant for Physics at Stichting Studiebegeleiding Leiden from 2008 to 2015. Matthijs also served as a Teaching Assistant at TU Delft from 2013 to 2015. In 2012, they worked as a Teacher at Instituut MENTOR. Apart from their academic roles, Matthijs also had various extracurricular involvements. Matthijs was a member of the Advisory Committee at Gliding club 'Gooise' from 2010 to 2012. Matthijs held a leadership position as External Affairs board member at VSV 'Leonardo da Vinci' from 2011 to 2012, where they managed external contacts, financial acquisition, and provided support to various committees. Matthijs also served as a Board member for the Netherlands Association of Aeronautical Engineers NVvL from 2011 to 2012 and worked as a Teacher at StudentsPlus Bijlessen from 2008 to 2011.
Matthijs Beekman began their education in 2002 at Gemeentelijk Gymnasium Hilversum, where they completed high school in 2008. Following this, from 2008 to 2013, they attended Delft University of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aerospace Engineering. During their time at Delft University, Matthijs also pursued a minor in Philosophy of Science at Leiden University from 2010 to 2011. In 2012 and 2013, they continued their studies at Delft University, focusing on Applied Physics. Matthijs then went on to complete a Master of Science (MS) degree in Aerodynamics at Delft University of Technology from 2013 to 2016. Additionally, in 2005, they obtained a Glider Pilot License (GPL) from Gliding Club 'GoZC'.
