Nick Childers is an Emmy award-winning visual journalist and documentary filmmaker from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He’s the son of a Chilean immigrant and a blue-collar Appalachian. Nick has filmed and produced documentaries, news videos, and photo assignments for outlets like The Washington Post, The Guardian, NBC News, VICE News, CNN, AJ+, Associated Press, Topic, The Wall Street Journal, BRIC TV, Village Voice, Public Source, Postindustrial and is an alumnus of Pratt Institute, Missouri Photo Workshop, UnionDocs, HEFAT, Pittsburgh Filmmaker's Flight School Fellowship, and CAPA Pittsburgh. Nick has covered stories like the war in Ukraine, the Tree of Life shooting, labor in the Rust Belt and Appalachia, home-birth during COVID, Black Lives Matter protests in Pittsburgh, abuse within the Catholic Church, and Caribbean pirate FM radio in Brooklyn. He’s the director of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Video Consortium and a member of NPPA, Storyhunter, Press Club of Western Pennsylvania, Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, and Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Nick is based in Pittsburgh and works independently as a freelance visual journalist, camera operator, director, producer, local fixer, and multi-media editor for a variety of editorial and commercial clients. He owns a Sony Fx6 kit and can quickly respond to assignments and shoots in the Pittsburgh tri-state area.
