Dr. Nicole Schlesinger is an experienced legal policy professional currently serving as a Senior Legal Policy Officer at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine since June 2023. Previously, Dr. Schlesinger held several significant positions, including Policy Manager at the Yoo-rrook Justice Commission, Principal Policy Advisor at the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria, and Manager of Victim Support Policy at the Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria. Dr. Schlesinger has a notable history in promoting human rights and legal policy, notably as a Senior Legal Policy Officer in the Human Rights Unit, where responsibilities included advising on human rights compatibility of legislation. Academic achievements include a PhD in Law/Social Science from the University of Melbourne, alongside a Master's in Policy Studies and a dual Bachelor's in Arts and Law from UNSW.
