Matt McDonald currently serves as a Principal Machine Learning Engineer at VIAVI Solutions since July 2023. Prior to this role, significant experience was gained at Fotech Group, where Matt held various positions including Director of Technology for Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, leading AI and ML strategies and cross-functional teams to enhance business growth and efficiency. Earlier, as Signal Processing R&D Manager and Senior Algorithm Developer, innovations included novel neural network architectures and phase unwrapping algorithms for DAS data. Matt has also contributed to the broader research community through involvement with the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences and has a research background in seismic processing methods. Matt earned a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics and a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics (Honours) from the University of Calgary.
