Rand Knight has extensive experience in the technology sector, having held various roles in the industry since 2013. In 2013, they were the Senior Vice President of Software & Services at SpaceCurve, where they were responsible for the company's revenue planning, strategies for developing business and Board-reporting. In 2014, they were a Startup Advisor at Roadie, which was later sold to UPS for $575M in 2021. In 2015, they co-founded Securrency, which completed a $30M Series B in 2021. In 2017, they were the Vice President of Sales & System Integrator Partnerships at Hexagon Geospatial. From 2019-2021, they held various roles as a Startup Advisor, including at 1898 & Co., Visual Intelligence, and Consilience Analytics. In 2021, they were a Sr. Advisor at Bentley Systems, where they launched a SaaS offering for Digital Twins for Telecom Towers. Currently, they are the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at VERTSEC.

Rand Knight obtained their High School/Secondary Diplomas and Certificates from The Westminster Schools in 1977-1990. Rand then attended Chewonki Foundation for Maine Coast Semester #1 in 1988. In 1994, they obtained a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Middlebury College. Rand then obtained an M.S. in Ecosystems Analysis (Sensors & Systems Process) from the University of Washington in 1997. Finally, they obtained a Ph.D. in Ecosystems Analysis (Geospatial/Spatiotemporal) from the University of Washington in 2003. Additionally, Rand Knight has obtained certifications from PADI and NAUI Worldwide for Advanced Open Water Diver, from the Society of American Foresters for Certified Forester, and from the Ecological Society of America for Senior Ecologist.
