Mahdi Kohansal has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as the Principal Optimization Engineer at Verse since September 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Fluence from October 2020 to September 2023. Before that, they served as a Data Scientist in Electricity Markets at AMS from May 2018 to October 2020. Mahdi also gained research experience as a Research Assistant at the University of California, Riverside from September 2013 to March 2018. Additionally, they completed internships at Tesla in 2017 and Pacific Gas and Electric Company in 2016 and 2015.

Mahdi Kohansal earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic in 2010. Mahdi then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution, graduating in 2013. Following this, they attended the University of California, Riverside, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2018.
