Steffen van der Velde is an experienced policy officer currently serving at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, focusing on the EU waste framework directive and waste incineration. With a strong background in circular economy and waste management, Steffen is also finalizing a PhD at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Contributions to the Vereniging voor Milieurecht include participation in a taskforce dedicated to global sustainability, emphasizing production chains and corporate liability. Steffen has previously held roles as an editor for Jurisprudentie Milieurecht, owner of S. van der Velde Consultancy, and a legal secretary at FMO. Research and consultancy expertise in EU law were further developed at the TMC Asser Institute, where Steffen also completed a PhD internship. Educational qualifications include an LL.M. in International & European Law from the University of Groningen and studies at the University of Oslo.
