Erik van der Burg has a diverse and extensive work experience. Erik is currently the CEO and co-founder of Venova Medical, Inc. which they established in December 2018. Prior to this, they were the chairman, co-founder, and CTO of Siesta Medical, Inc. since January 2010. Erik also served as the executive chairman of Solinas Medical from May 2014 to July 2017 before the company was acquired by Nikkiso.
Furthermore, Erik held the position of president, CEO, and co-founder in two separate companies. Erik was the president, CEO, and co-founder of Ross Creek Medical, Inc., a company that developed the ReelX for rotator cuff repair, from September 2007 to June 2009 before it was acquired by Stryker. Similarly, they served as the president, CEO, and co-founder of Aspire Medical, Inc. from January 2004 to June 2007.
Erik worked as an entrepreneur in residence at Three Arch Partners/Sprout Group between September 2003 and January 2004. Erik also co-founded Appriva Medical, Inc., where they held the position of VP R&D, from August 1998 to September 2002 before it was acquired by ev3. Additionally, Erik worked as the director of R&D at W.L. Gore & Associates / Prograft from 1995 to 1998 and as a project group leader at Advanced Cardiovascular Systems from 1989 to 1992. Erik also served as an industry advisory board member at Santa Clara University Bioengineering Program since 2013.
Erik van der Burg completed their Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, where they studied from 1985 to 1988. Erik then pursued a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Santa Clara University, where they attended from 1990 to 1995. Erik'seducational focus throughout both degrees was in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
