Arjan Mengerink is an experienced leader in public safety and community service, currently serving as the Directeur veiligheidsregio and commandant brandweer at Veiligheidsregio IJsselland since January 2020. Prior to this role, Mengerink was the Voorzitter of Borhave Bornse Handbal Vereniging, overseeing the growth and performance of the sports club from November 2015 to January 2020. Mengerink’s extensive law enforcement background includes serving as Sectorhoofd at Politie IJsselland, where responsibilities spanned various municipalities, and as Projectmanager for the establishment of politie eenheid Noord Nederland. Additional experience includes leadership roles within Stichting KOMT and Polities in Drenthe and Utrecht, complemented by academic qualifications from the University of Amsterdam and the Nederlandse politie academie.
