Ann Brighty has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Ann started their career as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Nottingham Trent University in 1985. Ann then worked as a Research Scientist at Biotal Ltd in 1987 and later became a Senior Technical Sales Specialist at Northumbria Biologicals in 1988.

In 1989, Ann joined Stratagene Ltd as a Senior Technical Sales Consultant and was responsible for establishing the UK sales operation for the company's subsidiary. Ann undertook various sales activities, including instrument demonstrations, trade shows, and managing a sales team. Ann continued to work at Stratagene Ltd and took on the role of UK Sales Manager and European Manager for Transgenic Assay Systems. Ann successfully identified and developed key accounts, leading to a 25% increase in sales. Additionally, they played a crucial role in expanding the business in Europe for a molecular toxicology system.

Ann's next career move was in 1995 when they joined Vector Laboratories Ltd as the Managing Director. Ann held this position for 25 years until 2020 when they transitioned to the role of Senior Business Development Director for the UK and Ireland.

Ann Brighty attended Holy Cross Convent in Chalfont St Peter, Bucks from 1968 to 1978. Ann obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Joint Honours Microbiology and Genetics from Cardiff University/Prifysgol Caerdydd, completing their studies from 1978 to 1981. Ann then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Genetics and biochemical studies of D-alanine dehydrogenase in Pseudomonas aeruginosa at Cardiff University/Prifysgol Caerdydd from 1981 to 1984.
