Joan Murchison

Joan Murchison has a wealth of work experience, beginning in 1989 as a Real Estate Investor. From 1996 to 1997, they worked as a Court Worker and Probation Supervisor for the Ontario Court of Justice, where they wrote reports and made recommendations as to the disposition for Phase I Young Offenders. From 1997 to 2013, they were a Library Technician and Computer Technician for the St. Clair Catholic District School Board. From 2013 to 2019, they were a Committee Member and Vice Chair of various committees for The Corporation of the City of Sarnia. In 2014, they created and launched Sarnia-Lambton Ontario Buy and Sell (on the VarageSale platform). In 2018, they took on a Confidential position. From 2019 to 2020, they held a Research Professional position with the Canadian Mental Health Association, a partnership between the Lambton Mental Wellness Centre and the Community Law School Sarnia Lambton. Finally, they have taken on a Temporary Assignment as a Book Keeper.

Joan Murchison obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science, Sociology, and Social Work from the University of Windsor between 1991 and 1996. Joan then completed a two-year Library Technician Programme at Fanshawe College between 1982 and 1984, followed by courses in Sociology, Political Science, and Religious Studies at Western University between 1985 and 1990. In 2003 and 2004, they obtained a Community Advocacy Certificate and an Advanced Community Advocacy Certificate from Lambton College. In 2008, they obtained a Parent Consultant Certificate from the Ontario Association of Education Advocates.
