Dominic Chan

Director at Vaquero Capital

Dominic heads financial sponsors coverage and deal sourcing at Vaquero Capital. Vaquero is a leading investment and merchant bank advising technology companies on M&A and capital raising transactions.

In his role, Dominic develops and maintains relationships with global and middle market alternative investment firms. His team works closely with sponsors to deliver creative solutions and liquidity events for clients, who include leading private equity, alternative credit managers, family offices, and soverign wealth funds in North America and Europe.

Prior to Vaquero, he was at The Goldman Sachs Group and Barclays Capital. Vaquero was named tech boutique bank of the year by M&A Atlas 2018-2023, and was awarded boutique bank of the year in 2022 by The M&A Advisor.

He is a frequent panelist on a number of leading industry conferences, including Inman Real Estate Connect and the Global M&A Atlas annual events. He was named a 2022 Rising Star Dealmaker at the prestigious Americas Global M&A Atlas Awards, held at the historic Metropolitan Club in New York City in January 2023.

A passionate enthusiast for community engagement, he was the youngest member in history to serve a three-year tenure on the San Francisco Symphony's Symphonix League Board. He also served on a committee at the American Red Cross, the SF Symphony's VC 40 leadership committee, and is frequently invited as a speaker and scholarship judge panelist at UC Berkeley. He served on the Board of Fine Arts Museum San Francisco ArtPoint (Legion of Honor and deYoung Museum), and is co-chairman of the 70 member advisory council committee.

He currently serves on the Philharmonic Council at the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The LA Phil is one of the most innovative and dynamic symphony orchestras in the world. It operates the Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, and The Ford.

A graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, he was a California Alumni Association Leadership Award Scholar for three consecutive years (Berkeley’s premiere merit based award established in 1934, Cal's only merit-based scholarship awarded to the top 5% undergraduates). He served on the Undergraduate Admissions Coordination Board, and was a walk-on member of the Cal Triathlon Team, which won the National Championships in Alabama.

An accomplished musician, Dominic was in the first violin section of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra (SFSYO) for three seasons, rehearsing and performing at Davies Symphony Hall. In 2008, SFSYO went on a concert tour to Germany and Prague, performing in some of the world's most venerated concert halls, including sold out performances at the Berlin Philharmonie and Smetena Hall.
