Derek Massie (FCIPD, MBA) has a diverse and extensive work experience in human resources. Derek began their career as a Group HR and Safety Manager at BALMORAL GROUP, where they created an HR function and implemented management development interventions. Derek then moved on to Wood Group Engineering as an Employee Relations Manager, overseeing the Shell Brent field refurbishment contract.
Afterwards, Massie joined Schlumberger as an HR Director and Regional HR Manager, where they worked in various locations including the UK, Asia, France, and Scandinavia. Following this, they were the Director of Human Resources Europe at Aggreko plc, where they led a business restructure and managed the HR stream of the project steering committee.
Massie then held positions at Acergy, first as an HR Director for Corporate and Offshore in London, where they developed efficient ways of working and orchestrated talent management committees. Derek later became the HR Director for Asia and the Middle East in Singapore. Derek also worked at Seadrill as the Global Head of HR and Internal Communications, leading a team of 100 staff and transforming the work culture.
In 2013, Massie joined DYNAMIC PEOPLE STRATEGIES LIMITED, serving as an HR Consultant and NED. Derek conducted coaching, advised private equity firms, and acted as a Non-Executive Director for Activpayroll. Derek later became an Interim HR Director/Consultant at the same company.
Most recently, Massie served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Vantage Drilling. Their experience includes leading the HR function, managing internal communications, and supporting the board remuneration committee.
Derek Massie obtained their Masters degree in Business Administration from Robert Gordon University between 1994 and 1997.
