Thijs Plug

Global Head Of Communications And PR at VanMoof

Thijs Plug has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Thijs currently serves as the Global PR Lead at VanMoof since May 2023. Prior to this, they were the Managing Director at Plug Amsterdam from March 2022.

From August 2021 to July 2022, Thijs worked at futurefactor as the Managing Director Europe. Before that, they held the position of Communications Director at futurefactor from February 2019 to July 2021.

Thijs also has experience as the Founder/Head of Content at Sektor 9, where they built profiles for fintech and financial brands through traditional PR and content creation. Thijs worked there from March 2016 to January 2019.

In 2017, Thijs worked as the Head of Content at EXANTE - Next Generation Investment Company, responsible for international PR and content production.

Thijs has also held leadership roles at Dentsu Aegis Network, where they served as the Regional Director Marketing Communications Southeast Asia from January 2014 to March 2016, and at The Dentsu Network, where they were the Director Marketing and Communications/Asia in late 2013.

Thijs has experience as an Editor/Writer/Journalist during their self-employed tenure from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, they worked as the Deputy Chief Executive of Quote Magazine at Hearst Magazines from 2009 to 2011.

Earlier in their career, Thijs worked as a Freelance Writer/Journalist, contributing to various newspapers and magazines such as Quote, Elle, Volkskrant, NRC, De Pers, Revu, and JFK. Thijs had notable interviews with celebrities such as Jack Nicholson, The Rolling Stones, Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Dennis Hopper.

Thijs Plug completed their VWO degree at Huizermaat in 1994. Thijs then pursued their studies at the University of Amsterdam, where they obtained a Propaedeutics degree in Dutch/Flemish Language and Literature in 1996. Following this, Thijs continued their education at the same university and graduated with a Drs degree in Film and Television in 2000.
