Michael Manalang is a seasoned Senior Aquarium Biologist at Vancouver Aquarium, overseeing more than 30 exhibits in tropical freshwater and saltwater environments since July 2014. With a strong background in aquatic life support system design and maintenance, Michael previously held roles as an Aquarium Biologist and has experience in animal husbandry, training, and welfare. Before the current position, Michael managed the fish department at Petland Canada Inc. and volunteered at Vancouver Aquarium, contributing to tropical waters husbandry. Michael's early career included data entry at the Canada Revenue Agency and temporary roles in retail and food service. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Winnipeg, obtained in 2012.
