Buzz Smythe started their work experience in 1974 as a Product Marketing Manager at Milliken & Company. Buzz worked in this role until 1983. From 1983 to 1989, they served as the President of West Virginia Pump. After that, they joined Merrill Lynch, Hartford Life, and IMG as a CFP® Consultant, advising both advisors and clients. Buzz remained in this role for 23 years until 2012. Since then, Buzz Smythe has been working as the VP of Business Development & Distribution at Vanbridge, an EPIC company.

Buzz Smythe attended The Citadel from 1967 to 1971, earning a BA degree in Language and Business. Later, they completed their MBA in Business at Clemson-Furman University in 1981.
