Deputy Chief Of Police at Van Buren Township

Joshua Monte serves as the Deputy Chief of Police for the Van Buren Township Police Department since May 2022, overseeing departmental operations and activities. Prior to this role, Joshua worked as a Regulation Agent in the Standards Compliance Section for the Michigan State Police-MCOLES from June 2021 to May 2022. A veteran of the City of Romulus Police Department from 1996 to 2021, Joshua held several positions including Captain, responsible for various divisions and departmental budget management. Joshua began the law enforcement career as a Police Officer in Detroit from September 1995 to September 1996. Academic credentials include a Master’s in Technology Studies and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University, along with advanced leadership training from the FBI National Academy and other institutions.
