Tanner Burk has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Tanner started their career as an Assistant Manager at Baja Cafe, where they worked until 2006. Following that, they worked as a Site Supervisor at Farmington Valley Landscaping for six years before transitioning to Lab Technician at Pfizer, a role they held from 2011 to 2012 at Lab Support, a division of On Assignment. In 2012, they joined FORMA Therapeutics, Inc. as a Principal Research Associate and worked there for eight years until 2020. Currently, they are employed at Valo Health as a Principal Associate Scientist, where they have been working since March 2020.

From 2005 to 2010, Tanner Burk attended the University of Connecticut, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry.
