Dereck Criner has a diverse work experience in the field of human resources and administration. Dereck is currently serving as the Director of Human Resources at Valley Community Services Board since April 2021. Previously, they worked as the Assistant Director of Talent Management & Strategic Planning at the University of Florida from April 2017 to April 2021. Prior to that, they held the position of Director of Human Resources and Administration at THE ARC OF ALACHUA COUNTY, INC. from January 2017 to April 2017.

Before joining THE ARC OF ALACHUA COUNTY, Dereck was the Director of Human Resources at The Arc of Alachua County from February 2016 to January 2017, where they oversaw the HR department and had responsibilities such as managing FMLA and Workers' Compensation, employee relations, talent management, and creating employment policies. Dereck also worked as a Training & Development Specialist at The Arc of Alachua County from April 2014 to February 2016.

Earlier in their career, Dereck worked at Belk as a Regional Trainer from February 2012 to April 2014. Dereck was responsible for implementing a corporate rebranding program and developing training documents.
