Mehdi Esmail's work experience includes several roles in various industries. Mehdi is currently the Cofounder & Chief Product Officer at ValidMind Inc., a company focused on Model Risk Management for Financial Services. Prior to this, Mehdi was a Member at AI Link and a Founder-in-Residence at AI Fund. Mehdi also served as the Vice President of Product & Innovation at Zenon from 2019 to 2021. Before that, Mehdi worked at American Express in several roles, including Director of Enterprise Data Partnerships, Director of Strategy & Chief of Staff for the Global Information Management team, Senior Manager of B2B Product Management, and Manager of the Strategic Planning Group. Mehdi started their career at Booz Allen Hamilton as an Associate in the Strategic Innovation Group, focusing on data-driven decision-making for clients in the commercial and public sectors. Mehdi also has experience as a Teaching Assistant at Columbia University and as a part-time consultant at Columbia University's Operations Consulting Lab. Mehdi has an internship experience as a Strategy Management & Controlling Intern at Air Liquide's Industrial Merchant World Business Line and as a Business Analyst Intern on the "Governance, Risk, Compliance" team at BearingPoint.

Mehdi Esmail's education history begins in 2006 when they attended Lycée Louis Le Grand, where they pursued classes préparatoires scientifiques with a focus on MPSI and PSI*. From 2008 to 2012, they attended CentraleSupélec and earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Industrial Engineering. In 2011, Mehdi enrolled at Columbia University and obtained a Masters of Science degree in Management Science & Engineering in 2012. From 2014 to 2016, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and earned a Certificate of Continuing Education. During their time at MIT, they focused on "Tackling the Challenges of Big Data" and "Data Science: data to insights".

In addition to their academic qualifications, Mehdi has obtained certifications outside of their formal education. In November 2021, they became Section4 Certified Product Experimentation through Section4. Mehdi also completed the "Introduction to Machine Learning in Production" course offered by DeepLearning.AI in September 2021.
