Daniel Jones has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Daniel started their career as a Medical Laboratory Assistant at Bristol Royal Infirmary, where they handled and organized patient samples for analysis. After that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Medical Research Council, focusing on interactions between viral and host cell factors in HCV RNA replication. Daniel then moved to Memorial University of Newfoundland as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they investigated the processes governing HCV particle assembly and identified a potential target for therapeutic intervention. Daniel then joined the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, University of Oxford, as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they worked on analyzing fusion mechanisms of enveloped viruses and contributed to a project on Ebola virus fusion inhibitors. Daniel further advanced their career at Oxford BioMedica as a Senior Scientist, and currently, they hold the position of Senior Scientist 2 at Vaccitech.
Daniel Jones completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Microbiology, General from the University of Reading. Daniel attended the University from 2001 to 2004. Subsequently, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Virology at the University of Glasgow, where they studied from 2005 to 2009.
