Jian Yuan, PhD, is a Senior Research Associate at UT Health San Antonio since January 2022, focusing on lipid metabolism related to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, while also exploring molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis and diabetes. Concurrently, Jian Yuan serves as a Diagnostic Associate at Iowa State University’s Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, performing high-throughput molecular tests for various livestock pathogens. Previous roles include Postdoctoral Research Associate and Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Iowa State University, where Jian Yuan worked on water quality testing and detection of toxic freshwater cyanobacteria respectively. Jian Yuan also gained experience at Xiamen University developing DNA extraction methods for marine phytoplankton and has held visiting scholar positions in the United States and Germany. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Marine Biology and a B.S. in Biotechnology from Ocean University of China.
