John Taverna, MPH, has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. John started their career as a Senior Patient Care Associate at Staten Island University Hospital, where they provided non-medical care and support for inpatient psychiatric patients. John later transitioned to a role as a Researcher at the South Texas Environmental Education and Research Program (STEER).

In 2010, John joined the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Public Health Data Analyst. John was responsible for coding, extracting, and analyzing data sets, as well as providing support for statistical analysis and population health impact narratives. John also served as a Technical Lead on various projects, managing server administration and providing software support.

After working at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, John joined HCI as a General Technologist, where they honed their technical skills. John then returned to the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in 2011, this time as a Public Health Data Systems Administrator. In this role, they led the design and development of internal and external health data dashboards, standardized functions for data access, and collaborated with external partners to create cohesive reporting environments.

Most recently, John has been working at Urban Health Plan, Inc. Since 2015, they have held the position of Director of Informatics, where they have been responsible for developing an enterprise-wide business intelligence strategy, implementing scalable solutions for data processing, and governing the reporting landscape.

In July 2021, John transitioned into the role of Chief Analytics Officer at Urban Health Plan, Inc., where they continue to leverage their expertise in analytics and informatics to drive data-driven decision-making.
