Words that clients and colleagues use to describe Urban’s Aaron Barnes, PE –“driven,” “dependable,” “quality,” and “good man.” Aaron served as Resident Engineer for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s (PTC) $102 million project to replace two, major, deteriorating, 55-year-old original structures spanning the Lehigh River and Pohopoco Creek in Carbon County, PA. This project was a vital component of the PTC’s self-funded initiative to modernize 546 miles of aging highway along the heavily traveled Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Since 2009, Aaron has worked in close coordination with the project team to make this complex and award-winning construction assignment a complete success. Always aware of schedule and cost, Aaron was the hub through which communication flowed among the client, contractor, engineers, and community. His willingness to share his expertise coupled with a take-charge attitude and subtle yet confident professional approach was embraced by the client. A member of the project team commented, “Aaron is the person who turns the lights on in the field office in the morning, and the one to turn them off at night. He is a tremendous asset to our firm, clients, and industry.”
