John Watson is an experienced professional in risk management with a career spanning several decades. Currently serving as a member of the University Risk Management & Insurance Association (URMIA) since 1987, John also held the position of Executive Director for the Higher Education Practice at Gallagher from February 2003 to March 2021. Prior to Gallagher, John was the Director of Risk Management at Pepperdine University from 1987 to 2003, where responsibilities encompassed the design and implementation of property, casualty, and workers’ compensation plans across domestic and international campus locations. John’s expertise includes risk identification, coverage analysis, negotiation and procurement of insurance, loss control prevention, and claims administration, along with significant experience in crisis management plan development and administration. John holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University, obtained in 1972.
