Ananthini Nanthakumaran

Professor in Environmental Science at University of Vavuniya

Ananthini Nanthakumaran has a strong background in environmental science and academia. Ananthini is currently a Professor in Environmental Science at the University of Vavuniya since August 2021. Prior to their current role, they also served as a Professor in Environmental Science at the Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna from December 2019 to July 2021.

Ananthini has also held positions as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Colombo, with a tenure from 2017 to 2020, and as a Senior Lecturer at the Vavuniya Campus from March 2003 to December 2019. Additionally, they worked as a Visiting Lecturer at the Open University of Sri Lanka from 2013 to 2018.

Ananthini Nanthakumaran completed their high school education at Arunodhaya College, Alaveddy, Jaffna from 1969 to 1981. Ananthini then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture at Eastern University Srilanka from 1983 to 1988. Continuing their studies, they obtained a Master's Degree in Management of Natural Resources and Sustainable Agriculture from Agriculture University of Norway, attending from 1997 to 1999. Finally, Ananthini completed their education by earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Agricultural Economics Specialized in Resource and Environmental Economics from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University between 2006 and 2009.
