Henry Ayres currently serves as the Research and Development Manager at edibl, a pioneering UK start-up focused on the cultivation of edible insects through urban and vertical farming techniques. Henry's career includes a PhD candidacy at the University of Surrey, with a research focus on Advanced Deployable Structures for Space Flight, and a previous role as a Research Engineer Intern at the University of Bristol, where project leadership involved designing a composite filament winding machine. Additional experience includes an internship with Rolls-Royce in the Fans & Compressors Aerodynamic team and a year as a Research Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory, working on space-related quantum device projects for the European Space Agency. Henry holds a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bristol.
