Matthew Wellman Jr. is an Associate Strategy Analyst at La-Z-Boy Incorporated, with a strong background in sports analytics and communications. Currently serving as a Michigan Men's Soccer Student Analyst for the University of Michigan Athletics, Matthew analyzes video data to aid coaching staff and manages video coding on matchdays. As President of the Michigan Sports Analytics Society, Matthew oversees club operations, fosters partnerships, and organizes events for skill development. Previous experience includes roles at Detroit City FC as a Statistics and Media Intern, and an Analytics Intern position at FordDirect, where data evaluation and process improvement were key responsibilities. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Statistics from the University of Michigan, where analytical research was also conducted under Professor Stefen Szymanski.
