Darryll Pines has extensive experience in academia and research, currently serving as President and Glenn L. Martin Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland, a role held since March 2003. Pines also held positions as Farvardin Professor and Dean of the A. James Clark School of Engineering and as Professor and Chair in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, which is noted for its pioneering research in various fields. Prior experience includes serving as DSO and TTO Program Manager at DARPA, managing significant programs from October 2003 to October 2006, and as a Member of Technical Staff at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where navigation algorithms for the Clementine spacecraft were designed. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
