Kiara Barker has a diverse work experience history. Kiara started their career in 2012 as a History Intern at Leeds Industrial Museum. Kiara then volunteered at the Museum of the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine at the University of Leeds from 2011 to 2013. In 2012, they also worked as a Heritage Trail Researcher at M&S Company Archive.
From 2013 to 2014, Kiara held several roles, including Learning Volunteer at Leeds City Council, Intern for the Ignite Science Project at Leeds City Council, and Education and Outreach Intern at Marks and Spencer. Kiara also served as a Visiting Research Assistant and Module Development Intern for Interpreting Technology at the University of Leeds during this time.
In 2014, Kiara worked as a Work Experience Support Officer at the Department of Children's Services in Bradford Council before returning to the University of Leeds as an Academic Support Secretary, primarily focusing on EU funded projects within the Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development.
Following this, Kiara joined the NIHR Clinical Research Network in 2016 as a Support Assistant in the Divisional Research Delivery. Kiara then returned to the University of Leeds the same year, where they held the position of Senior Administration Assistant in Research Support.
Recently, in July 2021, Kiara started working at the University of Leeds as a Senior Research Administrator, now leading the Post-Award Team.
Kiara Barker has a strong academic background. Kiara obtained their MA in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Leeds in 2012, after completing their BA in Philosophy at the same university from 2008 to 2011. Prior to their university studies, Kiara completed their A-Levels in Biology, Psychology, General Studies, and Chemistry at Park Lane College in Leeds from 2006 to 2008. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained a Certificate in Research Administration from the Association Of Research Managers And Administrators in April 2017.
