Chris Biemann's work experience includes serving as the Director of House of Computing and Data Science and Professor for Language Technology at the University of Hamburg since 2016. Prior to that, they were a Juniorprofessor at TU Darmstadt from 2011 to 2016. Chris also worked as a Research Software Development Engineer at Microsoft from 2008 to 2010 and as a Natural Language Scientist at Powerset in 2008. Chris started their career as a Research Assistant at Universität Leipzig in 2003 and was a Student Research Assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences from 1999 to 2003.
Chris Biemann earned a Dr. rer. nat degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, and Natural Language Processing from Leipzig University from 1997 to 2007. Additionally, they studied Computational Linguistics at the University of Bergen (UiB) in 2005 and Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) from 2000 to 2001.
