Eric Rice

Music Department Head at University of Connecticut

Eric Rice has a vast array of experience in the field of music history. Eric currently holds the position of Department Head and Professor of Music History at the University of Connecticut, where Eric is responsible for curricular offerings related to music composed before 1750. Eric has also served as the Artistic Director for the Connecticut Early Music Festival and as Music Director and Tenor for the Exsultemus Period Vocal Ensemble. In addition, Eric has experience in maritime education as the Master of the Schooner PIONEER and Director of Marine Education at the South Street Seaport Museum. Eric earned their Doctor of Philosophy in Musicology from Columbia University and their Bachelor of Arts in English and Music from Bowdoin College.
