Terry Lee

Associate Vice President And Chief Risk Officer at University of Colorado Denver

Terry Lee has a strong background in risk management and insurance. Terry has held various leadership positions at the University of Colorado, starting as the Director of Finance and Administration for University Risk Management in 2008. Terry later became the Assistant Vice President, Chief Risk Officer, and eventually the Associate Vice President, Chief Risk Officer, overseeing risk management for the entire CU system. In 2018, they took on a role as President of CU Insurance Captive and Assoc. Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for the Office of the President. Prior to their time at the university, Terry worked as the Manager of Self-Insurance and Insurance Compliance for the State of Colorado and gained experience in defense litigation at various law firms. Terry also has experience in the insurance industry, serving as the Director of Operations/State Director for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Colorado. Terry began their career as a Sr. Financial Analyst at Standard and Poor's Corporation.

Terry Lee holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado, which was obtained between 1981 and 1985. Terry has also obtained certifications including the Association in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) from various institutions, such as the Insurance Institute of America and The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.
