Simon Cornelis Groen

Assistant Professor Of Evolutionary Systems Biology at University of California, Riverside

Simon Cornelis Groen serves as an Assistant Professor of Evolutionary Systems Biology at the University of California, Riverside since July 2021. Groen concurrently holds the position of Visiting Researcher at the International Rice Research Institute and has previously worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at New York University until July 2021, where Groen was also a Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Fellow of the Life Sciences Research Foundation. Additional research experience includes positions at the University of California, Berkeley, The University of Arizona, and the University of Cambridge. Groen's research focuses on developing innovative strategies for managing crop diseases in sub-Saharan Africa as part of a multinational consortium. Academically, Groen obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Sciences from the University of Cambridge and holds both an MSc and BSc in Biology from Wageningen University & Research.
