Tanya Vance

Co-lead UCAR Community Programs Strategic Planning at UCAR - The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research

Tanya Vance has a diverse work experience in various scientific and educational roles. Tanya is currently working as a Co-lead at UCAR - The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, where they are involved in strategic planning for UCAR Community Programs. Tanya also holds the position of Unidata Community Services Manager at the same organization. Prior to this, Tanya worked at the Department of Conservation (DOC) as a Freshwater Ecosystems and Threats Manager, responsible for managing and addressing threats to freshwater ecosystems. Tanya also worked as a Technical Advisor at the Mountains to Sea Team within the same organization. Tanya has experience with ecological research and data science through their role as a Data Products Coordinator and Ecological Researcher at the NEON Program. Tanya has also worked as an Affiliate Professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver, a Faculty Research Assistant at the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences - Oregon State University, and a Geographical Information Systems Paid Intern at the WATERSHED ENHANCEMENT BOARD, Oregon. Tanya's early career includes roles as a NOAA Oregon Sea Grant Scholar and a Graduate Research Assistant at Oregon State University, as well as a Physical Science Technician at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Tanya Vance has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Marine Resource Management and Oceanography from Oregon State University, which they earned from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, at Metropolitan State University of Denver from 2005 to 2009. In addition to their degrees, Tanya also obtained a Graduate Certificate of Geographic Information Science (GIS) and Remote Sensing from Oregon State University in December 2012.
