Michelle Hurtado (Brown)

Director, Resource Strategy & Analytics at United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee

Michelle (Brown) Hurtado has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of sport performance and strategic planning. Michelle started their career in 2006 with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and held various roles, including Director of Resource Strategy & Analytics, where they focused on ensuring the right resources were provided to athletes for optimal results. Michelle also served as the Director of Performance Operations & Strategic Planning, where they developed strategic plans and programs to maximize USOC resources for National Governing Bodies.

Prior to their roles as a director, Michelle worked as an Associate Director and Senior Business Analyst, providing financial management and direction on programs and projects with significant budgets. Michelle achieved high accuracy in forecasting expenses and implemented various assessment tools and project prioritization processes.

Additionally, Michelle served as a Manager for Winter Sports and held positions as an Assistant Manager and Assistant at various performance services within the USOC. In 2014, they joined the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program as a Professional Mentor, Tutor, and Lecturer, supporting elite coaches in delivering athlete development and coach education programs.

Before joining the USOC, Michelle worked as an Account Manager at Sports Potential from 2005 to 2006. Overall, their work experience has focused on strategic planning, resource allocation, financial management, and supporting athletes and coaches in their development and performance.

Michelle (Brown) Hurtado has a diverse education history encompassing various institutions and fields of study. From 2000 to 2005, they attended the University of Victoria and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, with a focus on Co-Operative Education. Subsequently, in 2004, they pursued Spanish Immersion and International Business Courses for a period of 5 months at Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. Continuing their education, from 2006 to 2008, Michelle obtained a Master's Degree in Sport Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. Later in 2013 to 2014, they pursued an Executive Masters in Sport Organization Management from the MEMOS Association. Currently, Michelle is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physical Education & Movement Science at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, which is still in progress.
