Tamekia Flack was appointed as Chief Counsel at the Maritime Administration on December 6, 2021.
Ms. Flack was most recently Senior Legislative Counsel in the Judge Advocate General’s office at the U.S. Coast Guard, where she co-chaired the Judge Advocate General’s Leadership, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and managed the Coast Guard’s entire legislative agenda. Earlier during her tenure with the Coast Guard, she served as lead counsel for many of the agency’s IT acquisitions and worked on both administrative and fiscal law issues.
Tamekia began her federal government service as a member of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps with various assignments assisting soldiers and their dependents.
She also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney with the Eastern District of Virginia.
Tamekia is a graduate of Dillard University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Tulane University School of Law.
