Barbara Parkins is an experienced educational leader currently serving as the Superintendent for the United School District since December 2012. With a diverse background in education, Barbara has held various roles including Dual Enrollment Coordinator, Superintendent, Administrator, and Teacher at Greater Johnstown School District from 1980 to 2012, and has also contributed as an Adjunct Professor at St. Francis University from 2007 to 2014. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a Master's Degree in Education with a focus on Reading from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.
